3D Tomas Bata Watches
Digitization of Tomas Bata’s Watches for the Tomas Bata Memorial
00
design problem
During the winter months, Tomas Bata’s watches are stored away from the memorial to protect them from freezing temperatures, making it impossible for visitors to view them. The goal was to create an accurate 3D replica that visitors could access through their mobile devices via a marker placed in the Tomáš Baťa Memorial, allowing them to experience the watches year-round and share it with others outside the memorial.
solution
The model was created using photogrammetry and structured light 3D scanning to capture glossy surfaces and ensure accurate proportions. This method offers a true-to-life digital replica of the watches, preserving both their history and craftsmanship for future generations. Visitors can explore the watches in detail on their mobile devices, including an interactive augmented reality experience.

In this project, we successfully digitized Tomas Bata’s iconic watches, now available for visitors to the Tomas Bata Memorial in Zlín. Thanks to this digital version, visitors can explore every detail of the watches, both traditionally and in augmented reality. This digital artifact enables modern generations to experience history while ensuring its preservation for the future.
