The Brief

Put a 15th-century uprising on the player’s own map.

Medieval Uprising is our in-house indie title: a mobile strategy game that drops the Hussite wars of early-15th-century Bohemia onto the player’s real location. The aim was a real fusion of geolocation, deck-building, and turn-based combat, held together by story and running as one loop.

The hard part was balance — each system earning its place without drowning the others, and a dense historical setting drawing players in rather than shutting them out.

The Approach

Three systems, one loop, tuned in the open.

Geolocation turns the real map into the board, deck-building rewards planning, and turn-based combat makes every move count, with narrative tying them together. Balance like that isn’t set once; it’s tested and retuned.

So we built close to the players. A dedicated Discord lets them sign up, play, and feed experience straight back into the design — development in the open, not behind closed doors.

The Impact

A medieval Bohemia you walk through, shaped by the people who play it.

A living indie title where the real world is the battlefield and the community steers where it goes — challenging and fun without leaning on any single mechanic.
