The Brief
Make the mining models move, without touching the exhibition.
The Gold Exhibition in Jílové u Prahy holds detailed mining miniatures and historical artifacts. They are precise, but static, and a fixed model makes it hard to read how a mining system actually worked.
The museum wanted motion and context added on top, without altering a single display.
The Approach
One markerless app, on the museum’s tablets and your own phone.
We built a single multiplatform app for iOS and Android. It runs on the museum’s tablets and is free for visitors to install on their own phones.
Markerless AR, powered by augg.io, anchors 3D content in the exhibition with no physical markers to place or maintain. Historical machines move as they once did, and a full-body 3D scan brings the alchemist Edward Kelley back into the museum, mid-craft in his workshop.
The Impact
A mining exhibition that finally moves.
Children and adults share the same discovery: models that run, machines that work, and a historical figure who reappears with each visit. The mining history stays front and center, with the technology carrying it rather than competing with it.
